Read the material and size specifications
This Experienced design uses Red Heart Roll With It Melange, 150 g/389 yd, in Theatre. Sizes S/M, L/XL, 2/3XL and 4/5XL need 3, 4, 4 and 5 balls with a suggested 6.5 mm hook. Finished bust measurements are 44, 51, 59 and 66 inches; compare these with the separate body-size ranges.
Understand the construction
The sweater starts at the collar and continues through the yoke before dividing into body and sleeves. Rounds are turned. The patterned gauge is six double-crochet groups and eight rows over 5½ by 4½ inches. Body edging is approximately 3 inches and cuffs approximately 6 inches. The neckline can have a simple edging or the pictured cowl.
Keep the size charts together
Print or bookmark the lower-yoke chart that matches your selected size. Use a removable marker on the current round, and record the front and back counts separately from sleeve counts. Checking each section at a stopping point is easier than discovering a misplaced increase after the division.
Swatch the open fabric
Make the patterned swatch rather than substituting a square of plain stitches. Let it settle on a flat surface before measuring. The airy clusters and chain spaces can shift when stretched; record the relaxed measurement and how the fabric feels in your hands.
Plan length before buying yarn
Treat extra sleeve or body rounds as a change to the material requirement. Keep enough yarn for both cuffs and the chosen neckline finish. Try the garment on before finishing the edges, and compare sleeve lengths side by side.
How to read the illustration
The illustration retains the folded cowl, long sleeves, ribbed edges and muted horizontal stripes. Its fit is narrower and its stripe spacing more regular than the loose source sample. The hand shot is a generic edge stitch, not a demonstration of the source cluster sequence. Use the official PDF for construction details.
